Can we bring our own caterer?
Yes. For O'Kelly Chapel's Micro Wedding and Private Events packages in Durham, NC, you're welcome to bring your own caterer. The Ceremony Only package doesn't include food or catering.
What is the alcohol policy?
Outside alcohol isn't permitted at O'Kelly Chapel. We provide bar service and alcohol packages, including a Prosecco toast, so drinks are handled on site for your wedding or event.
Do you provide an officiant?
Couples bring their own officiant for ceremonies at O'Kelly Chapel.
Is there parking?
Yes. O'Kelly Chapel offers free on-site parking for you and your guests at the For Garden's Sake property in Durham, NC.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
O'Kelly Chapel has a wheelchair-accessible ramp, an accessible parking space, and an accessible restroom on site.
How long is a booking?
The Private Events package includes five hours of venue access, with additional hours available at $250 per hour. The Wedding Ceremony package includes five hours of access, and the Micro Wedding package includes eight hours. Additional hours can be added to the wedding packages at $350 per hour.
How do we book, and what's the deposit?
To reserve O'Kelly Chapel, fill out the Book an Event form on our site and our team follows up. Your date is confirmed on the calendar once the client and venue sign the Rental Agreement and a 50% deposit is made.
Are there decor restrictions?
Because O'Kelly Chapel is a historic wood building, we ask for flameless (LED) candles instead of open flame, nothing taped or nailed to walls or fixtures, and no confetti or glitter. Other restrictions may apply and are noted in the rental agreement.
What's the rain plan for an outdoor ceremony?
Your backup plan depends on your guest count. Smaller, intimate ceremonies can move inside our historic chapel, while larger gatherings will require a tent rental to ensure everyone is comfortably accommodated.
When is your peak wedding season?
O'Kelly Chapel is busiest in spring and fall (roughly April through June and September through November), with summer and winter a bit quieter.
How many guests can the chapel hold?
O'Kelly Chapel is an intimate wedding venue in Durham, NC that seats up to 60 guests, ideal for micro weddings, elopements, and small ceremonies. The chapel building measures 30 by 40 feet, about 1,200 square feet.
